Our Story
Ryan Maly
Furniture Maker/Owner
Designing and creating are two things that I’ve been naturally drawn to since I was a little boy. I’m almost certain my obsession with LEGO® sets solidified that to my parents when I was 5 or 6 years old. Every birthday from then until around 12 years old, I would ask for the biggest, most extravagant LEGO® set. I would spend hours working on piecing together these intricate models. Many nights during the summer, I’d be up until the sun would rise. Creating something amazing from a big pile of plastic bricks must have stuck with me. I still get that feeling today. The only difference is the medium with which I build.
For me, it’s not just about seeing the finished piece when I’m done. It’s the entire process that led me there. I think when you truly and whole-heartedly enjoy the process as much as (or more than) the end result, that’s a great indication of just how passionate you are about something.
They say, “necessity is the mother of invention.”
Well, whoever they are—they were right.
In early 2020, I was laid off from my 9-5 job in the business world. during that time of uncertainty, I turned to the one thing I enjoyed most—making furniture.
What happens when passion and opportunity cross paths? You take a chance and run with it. You run like hell. You keep chasing your dreams until you get to wherever they take you. And you just keep on running. That’s exactly what I did.
To say I’m humbled being able to do what I love every day would be the understatement of the century.
